This edited book is a compilation of the articles and thoughts generated by experts from diversified fields in the National Workshop organized during April 27-29, 1998 in Arunachal Pradesh by the G, B, Pant Institute of Himalayan Environment & Development, Itanagar with the participation of researchers, academicians, government officials, and NGOs. A total of 39 articles on diversified subject matters have been presented in six sections: i) Land, Water, and Energy Management, ii) Conservation of Biological Diversity, iii) Environmental Physiology and Biotechnology, iv) Indigenous Knowledge Systems and Sustainable Rural Development, v) Human Resource Development and Networking, and vi) Environmental Impact Assessment.
The book is highly recommended for reference to the libraries and for personal possession to the research scholars and scientists of botany, forestry, agriculture, horticulture, zoology, and the environment, besides the government officials of planning departments and conservationists.
